Comprehensive Parent Training Programs
Bamboo Sunrise believes that well-rounded and enlightened care is the foundation for the healthy development of children. We offer a range of training programs aimed at assisting biological families and parents with their child-care responsibilities. These programs align with national standards, Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA) guidelines, and Council on Accreditation (COA) standards. They work towards creating a safe, nurturing and constructive environment for children under our purview.
CWLA's PRIDE
The Child Welfare League of America's (CWLA) Parent Resources for Information, Development, and Education (PRIDE) program is designed to provide parents with the knowledge to raise children who have experienced trauma or neglect. It focuses on the five essential competencies: protecting and nurturing, meeting children's developmental needs and addressing delays, supporting relationships between children and their families, connecting children to safe, nurturing relationships intended to last a lifetime, and working as a member of a professional team (CWLA).
Together Facing the Challenge
The Together Facing the Challenge program offers training to parents and guardians in therapeutic fostering. It involves understanding of a child's trauma and health history, managing their behavior, and creating a supportive and respectful relationship. This program is evidence-based and proven to increase placement stability and improve youth outcomes (Duke University, 2004).
Trauma Informed Care
Trauma Informed Care is a program designed to guide parents in understanding, recognizing, and responding to the effects of all types of trauma, including physical, emotional, and sexual. The program helps reduce the symptoms associated with trauma, ultimately enhancing the overall health and well-being of the child (SAMHSA).
Handle With Care
Intended for parents and guardians dealing with children who have experienced trauma, the Handle With Care program provides education about childhood trauma, brain development and practical instructions on how to handle them with care. The purpose of this training is to enrich the setting where the children live, learn and play, ensuring their utmost safety and nurturing (Handle With Care).
Foster Parent College
Foster Parent College is an online resource that offers interactive, research-based courses for adoptive, kinship, and foster parents. It integrates expert instruction with real-world scenarios to equip parents with the knowledge and skills they need to effectively care for children with complex emotional and behavioral needs (Foster Parent College).
